Written in the basement of a Newport boxing club, recorded in America and laying the groundwork for everything that followed it, Roots Rock Riot is an important piece of Skindred’s history – a piece that we hope this re-release celebrates.

It was our first to feature what would become the band's permanent line-up of Benji, Daniel, Mikey and Arya. From starting its life as that 'difficult second album', what the record became now completely transcends that.

We're really proud of the record. We had a hell of a lot of fun making it and it features some really important Skindred tracks.

Saw them live yesterday. These dudes (and a gal) came and blew the roof off the fucking club. The music aside - it was really refreshing to see a woman fronted metal act, because it brought something special, raw and vulnerable to the performance. I was a fan before the first song ended. This album represents this immidiacy perfectly, combining tenderness with storming rage. They deserve all you´ve got. donotcross
